Broken Capillaries

Broken capillaries are dilated or enlarged blood vessels just beneath the surface of the skin, typically found around the nose, cheek and chin areas. These damaged veins that may appear in the form of thin lines, webs or branches and may be purple, red or blue in colour. Once broken capillaries appear, they will not go away on their own and require professional treatment. We have various options that can be used to treat these from larger scaled areas to small delicate areas such as the entrance of the nose. We are able to treat broken capillaries with fine point precision, making it ideal for these hard to treat areas.

Cherry Angioma

A cherry angioma, or red mole, also known as red freckle or red ruby is often bright red, circular or oval in shape and typically found on the torso, back, arms and shoulders. A cherry angioma won’t go away on its own, but with professional technology they can be easily removed. Leaving the skin clear and flawless! Most red freckles can be treated with one treatment, larger ones may take up to three sessions to permanently remove them.

Cracked Feet

Cracked feet, also known as heel fissures, can be uncomfortable and sometimes even painful. They occur when the skin on your feet becomes dry and loses its elasticity, leading to fissures or cracks.

At Renew+Refresh we use a state-of-the-art diode laser to safely do into the deep dermis where the cracks are most tender. This laser treatment kills fungus and other bacteria while closing up the fissures within the heels. It is a very safe and comfortable procedure that can be done year-round on all skin types. This treatment is pain-free, but those who are highly ticklish may feel light sensation.

Fatty Deposits

Fatty (cholesterol) deposits are harmless, flesh colored bumps that often appear near the eye area. At Renew+Refresh, we use thermocoagulation technology to safely remove common, superficial skin abnormalities. Thermocoagulation uses a high frequency current to pin-point heat energy to treat fatty deposits. The tiny needle point allows our skin care professionals complete accuracy, ensuring that only the treatment area is targeted.

Treating fatty deposits is a quick and relatively painless process. You may feel a slight pricking sensation as the current is discharged into the target area.

The fatty deposit will be slightly red afterwards and light crusting will disappear, along with the deposit, within a few days.

Milia

Milia are white or yellow bumps (cysts) that are about 1-2 millimeters in size. They can form when keratin becomes trapped underneath the skin, or when ducts become clogged. Milia is typically found on the eyelids and face, though they can occur on other parts of the body. Some ingredients in skin care and make up products can cause milia. Lanolin, paraffin and petroleum oil are known to cause the formation of milia.

Nail Fungus

Nail fungus (Onychomycosis) is a common condition that may cause your nail to discolor, thicken and crumble at the edge. At Renew+Refresh, we use a long pulse laser to target and destroy the fungus.

The laser produces heat that gasifies and decomposes the infected tissue which destroys the fungus and affected skin and nails. The heat from the laser sterilizes the area which further inhibits additional fungal growth. Long pulse lasers show markedly better results than other treatment modalities such as oral medications, which may cause systemic side effects, take months to see results and often require consistent treatment.

Skin Tags

Skin tags are small pieces of hanging skin that are commonly found in areas where the skin folds such as armpits, under the breasts, eyelids, thighs and the neck.

Occasionally, skin tags go away on their own, however most tags will remain and grow larger over time.  Though generally not harmful, they may become uncomfortable. If you’re concerned about skin tags and want them removed, lasers are a safe and effective means of removing skin tags with minimal discomfort.

Patients may be tempted to try over-the-counter remedies which often leads to scarring, excessive bleeding, infection and the recurrence of the skin tag. It is best to leave skin tag removal to a professional.
